Stand Strong Again (SSA) was founded in 2005 by a group of professional action-sports athletes and friends who had some of their best friends fall victim to spinal cord injuries (SCI). We realized that with the proper support, these so-called "tragedies" could be turned into positive "transitions" to new and exciting lives. SSA provides resources to action-sports participants who have suffered SCI to assist in the treatment of, recovery from, and ultimate transistion to life with SCI. Changing lives may not be easy, but it is the goal to which we are committed. We welcome you to become a force that changes lives. Action-sports and those who participate in them share a passion for pushing the limits. As we continue to push the boundaries, the consequences of both success and failure are increasingly extreme. As a community, we all revel in each others' successes and that demands that we band together to help the fallen get back up. Our responsibility as action-sports participants is to get involved to support one another through failures, as well as successes. No single athlete can stand alone in our community. Turning our back on those who have suffered tragic injury is turning our back on the passion that drives us as humans. When one of us falls, we all feel the impact, when the community helps the fallen get back up, we turn failure back into success. Donating to SSA is a way to be involved in an athlete's recovery from an SCI injury and their new life. Every donation counts, regardless the amount. Each donation helps fallen athletes get back up and stride towards living life to the fullest extent. Your contribution provides not only the monetary funds needed to recover but also the emotional support of knowing that you are behind them. When you make a contribution to SSA, your donation will help fund spinal cord research, as well as quality of life initiatives. Every injury creates a new set of needs to help these athletes regain the life they lived before their injury. These needs include medical treatment, rehabilitation and modifications to homes and vehicles that ensure wheelchair accessibility and mobility. Most importantly, your donation gives these injured the freedom to live their lives with their friends and family. With every donation, those living with SCI regain strength and ability, both physically and mentally, knowing you are there to support them.
